All comics Girl comic
Girl comic comic issues
Sister comic to the 1950's Eagle, obviously aimed at girls rather than boys. With the Eagle there are weekly features on sports such as football, cricket, boxing and ju jitsu. With girl, the features are on baking, etc, with the first issue having a recipe for chocolate nut fudge, the second on how to make surprise boxes, and the first on how to make a monkey glove puppet. Another difference is the colour centre pages. Eagle has diagrams of ships, planes, cars, etc, and in the first 3 issues of Girl has "Jacky" visiting sweet factories, film sets and the zoo.
Girl is seriously difficult to get hold of, especially on eBay as searching on 'girl comic' isn't going to help, so you need to either add 'girl comic eagle' or 'girl comic hulton press' to find any issues and there aren't many.
We managed to get hold of complete volumes 1 and 2 to go through. The first couple of volumes have 16 pages per issue. After that, all the different websites have a different number of issues and there's conflicting information on whether this ends at Volume 13 no 13 or Volume 13 number 40.
We'll add information over time as we find it.

General comic range checking notes
All the early issues don't have any staples, so all the pages are loose. From early volume 9, they start to get the spine sewn with cotton, which gives them ragged edges, then then give up on that and go back to loose pages.
Always flip through checking the page numbers to make sure that pages haven't been removed. As you do this, then you can look for coupons cutout or puzzles/quizes filled in. Most issues have a crossword first half. This is fun with a comic of this age as you can see original adverts and fill in features on how to box, etc. Early issues only have 16 pages so it doesn't take long

Price guide notes
These are hardly ever on eBay so we haven't got a clear idea of price. Obviously No 1 is the most sort after key issue with the first appearance of Kitty Hawke.
After that, the price of issues generally fall to a consistant level as they are still common and were produced in vast numbers. Expect to pay £4-10 for most issues in nice complete condition.
The first issues in each volume and Christmas cover issues are always more expensive. Collecting Christmas covers is still popular so the demand for these issues increases the price.
