Generating a spreadsheet which can then be checked/amended and then imported back into Jumble Saler

Newspapers, magazines and comics all have issue dates and many also have volume and issue numbers.  The idea of the Jumble Saler stock system is to have a list of issues of a particular title, add the quantities you have of each in different quality grades and then "mail merge" them to individual eBay auctions.  Ideally, you should also have a cover images of the issue, but if you don't you can always advertise that you are happy to take pictures if you have an interested buyer at the price/quality advertised.

This screen allows you to generate new issues/products for your stock system.  For example, if are are selling a comic that has issues 1 to 100, then you can create the product records automatically.  If you also fill in start and end issue dates and the comic was say weekly, then system can also fill in issue dates automaticially as well.

For titles that just have issue dates, then can just enter the start and last issue dates and the pubication frequency, weekly, monthly, annually, and the records will be generated.  For annuals, then you can use the issue number option, with years as issue numbers, for example between 1960 to 1980.

Important note - This screen does NOT update your stock system, so you can play with the settings on this screen and generate an import spreadsheet as many times as you like, until you are happy with the information.   You may also need to modify your final spreadsheet as a publication may be missing a

What about weeks or months where there wasn't an issue or changes in publication frequency?

Some publications started fortnightly and then went monthly.  You can generate two or more different export files for these.  So generate one for say a fortnightly range and then another with different settings on this screen for monthly.  Obvisously use different file names.  You can manually combine the two use Microsoft Excel or another spreadsheet program like OpenOffice.org.

Where there are missing publication weeks, such as publisher's staff going on strike (industrial action), then you could do several exports in the different ranges.  You also have the option of just exporting the lot the and then moving the dates all the dates down a line in your spreadsheet.  Microsoft Excel has an autofil option where you can select two dates (or numbers) and then drag down to fill in the next dates (or numbers) automatically.

Our group - This allows you to group a load of search rules together, to make them easier to manage if you end up with dozens of rules.  This then automatically creates this 'Our group' list so that you can organise your searches on the main screen.  You will start with just a few, but if you buy collectables to sell on eBay, this list will grow larger and larger.
