Introduction
This is just a basic utility to export your data. Exporting to
CSV format means you can open in Spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft
Excel or OpenOffice.org.
If you are using our
Jumble Saler Stock
System, you can export product records and product groups, amend in
Microsoft Excel and them import them back into Jumble Saler. This
provides and quicker and easier method of adding and editing products.
Also, if you already have information on your products in other software,
you can then export from existing software and then match up with the Jumble
Saler import format.
Export formats
If you have filtered the data in your table on the previous screen, then
using the 'Current table with filter option' will apply the filter and only
export the current data on screen for the current table.
Here is a summary of your export options:
| Export format |
Description |
| |
|
| CSV file |
A plain text file that can be read by many computer
programs such Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice Calc, and is a tradition
format used for years to transfer data to other types of computers.
The drawback is that these contain only data from a single database
table. |
| XML file |
This is the current standard format for sending
database information over the Internet. Currently, only the
currently selected table will be outputted |
|
Repeat CSV format |
This is the same as a CSV file, but within the
column headers we also export the data type of each column so that
another Jumble Saler computer reading this file will get the
database columns formatted correctly. One issue with CSV files
is that it is sometimes hard to detect the data type of each column.
This means that when you write SQL statements within Jumble Saler
to retrieve the data, number and date columns especially, will
always be imported correctly. |
Jumble Saler Stock System - Automatically downloading pictures from
Internet websites
The main picture field in Jumble Saler import CSV files is called
'PictureLarge' and there are also 11 other picture fields you could use as
well. If you put the full URL of Internet pictures in your CSV file
'PictureLarge' column, such as:
https://www.jumblesaler.com/Comics/SCREAM/SCREAM0001.jpg
then Jumble Saler will automatically download and cache them so that they
appear next to your stock system products. You should also just use a
picture name in the 'PictureLarge' column, such as 'SCREAM0001.jpg' and then
specify a folder from which to collect them.
