Mail merge template ulti with list auctions
A
mail merge is when you combine a Word processing letter with a list of
names and addreses and then it will "merge" the two into separate letters.
This mail merge takes a template for an eBay auciton and then merges with a
list of stock to create lots of eBay auctions automatically. This is
useful for "graded" comics with stock images where you can put in stock
figures for each grade and then create dozens or even hundreds of separate
eBay auctions.
Placeholder variable fields that can be used in titles, condition description and in item
specifics
<ISSUENAME>
<ISSUETITLE>
<ISSUEEXTRA1>
<ISSUENO>
<VOLUME>
<ISSUEDATE>
<YEAR>
<KEYISSUEDESC>
<COVERARTIST>
<TITLEADDITIONAL> - The eBay title additional field
<ADDITIONAL1> - The eBay additional 1
field
<MULTIADDITIONAL> - The eBay multi-listing additional field
It is important that you don't go over the maximum number of characters
allowed in eBay titles, currently 80 characters. When you go to
mail merge to your final auctions, then the preview will display if any of
the final listings exceed the title limit.
The title additional field, i.e. <TITLEADDITIONAL>, was set up so that you
could add very short additional information next to items to be added to the
title
Example title templates
<ISSUENAME> - <ISSUEDATE> <TITLEADDITIONAL>
<BRAND> comic #<ISSUENO> <YEAR> - <TITLEADDITIONAL>
The Sun Newspaper <ISSUEDATE> <TITLEADDITIONAL>
Time Magazine <MONTH> <YEAR> RARE <TITLEADDITIONAL>
The <TITLEADDITIONAL> is really useful as you can add some extra short text
to get some extra keywords in for your title.

Fields that can be used in item specifics
You can use <AUTO> as well on the following fields:
Vintage
Issue number
Publication date

Year
as well as most of the fields such as <YEAR> above.
Extra if room
Some titles may be quite short compared with others, so you could have room
to add some extra text. If you tick the 'Additional text to add if
room', and use the <EXTRAIFROOM> field in your title template, you can
specific up to 3 extra bits of text. For example:
- "Bronze age Marvel comic"
- "Bronze age Marvel"
- "Bronze age"
So if the title was really short, then may be room for the first option,
i.e. "Bronze age Marvel comic". If adding this text makes the title
over the eBay limit, then Jumble Saler can then try the next additional
text, i.e. "Bronze age Marvel", and so on. So the first bit of text to
try is your longest one. You may want to add your eBay user name
or website address (eBay doesn't seem to stop this in either the title or
Item Specifics, although they don't like
them in your descriptions) to the end of your listings.
Auto shorten dates
If you are using
the <ISSUEDATE> field, this automatically defaults to the full date
format:
11 November 2021 (16 characters)
and then will shorted down to:
11 Nov 2021
then down to:
Nov 2021
then down to
2021
