Importing new eBay auctions into Jumble Saler

Help home

NOTE - Importing eBay auctions is a feature of the Jumble Saler STANDARD edition and higher.

Introduction

You can create your eBay auctions on a spreadsheet (saved as a .CSV file) and them import them into Jumble Saler.  eBay allows this online with their Bulk Uploads system, which can be confusing to get started with.

Key things you need to know:

1.  Jumble Saler uses the Lot numbers / SKU codes (Stock Keeping Unit) / Product codes to uniquely identify auctions.  For example, lets say you are a private sellers and have loads of books to put on eBay with loads of duplicates in different conditions.  One book may be as new, another with creases on the covers extra.  So putting each book in a bag with a different number on, 1, 2, 3, etc, or sticking numbers or tickets out of a bingo ticket book, allows you to then identify different items easily.  You can then use these numbers in Jumble Saler.  In a nutshell, this means that every auction should have a unique code.  See Lot numbers in Jumble Saler for more information.

2.  Each category on eBay, such as books, T-Shirts, watches, each has a different eBay category.  eBay uses Item specifics for each category.  D

For example, for book the item specifics are:

Series
Book Title
Language
Genre
Etc

and T-Shirts have:

Brand
Colour
Size
Etc

The condition names are also different

Book conditions:

New
Like New
Very Good
Good
Acceptable

T-Shirt conditions:

New with tags
New without tags
Pre-owned excellent
Pre-owned good
Etc

What this means is that importing auctions is not quite as straight forward as it sounds, as you need to use different import spreadsheets with different Item specifics for each category, or you need to use a single import spreadsheet set up so that the Item Specifics column has entries like:

Series=Harry Potter
Book Title=Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Language=English
Genre=Childrens
Etc

Creating template CSV/spreadsheets for specific categories using your existing auctions

The easiest thing to do, it to manually add an auction either on your existing eBay account or within Jumble Saler, or select on of your existing eBay listings.  You can then use the 'Export' button which will create a CSV file with your auction as an example.  You can then add other products, or copy and past from other spreadsheets and build your own import spreadsheet.

VERY IMPORTANT - The SKU/Lot number field MUST BE UNIQUE

Notes

1.  The SKU must be unique and not already used on an auction within Jumble Saler.

2.  The Title must be unique and not already used on an auction within Jumble Saler.

3.  On some eBay categories, some Item specifics are compulsory.  You much make sure these are filled in.

4.  When you import, then if Jumble Saler finds any issues, it will tell you of any errors with as much information as possible to help you correct them.

Importing

Use the Browse button select your import file and click on Import.

The first thing Jumble Saler will do is to check your import file for any potential problems and give you a list of any problems.  If no problems are found, then the system will import your file.  This will add new products and update existing ones.

Product codes (SKU's)

See Creating product codes for comics  for our recommendations to keep you product codes as compatible as possible with Jumble Saler.

Automatically downloading pictures from Internet websites

The main picture field in Jumble Saler import CSV files is called 'PictureLarge' and there are also 11 other picture fields you could use as well.  If you put the full URL of Internet pictures in your CSV file 'PictureLarge' column, such as:

https://www.jumblesaler.com/Comics/SCREAM/SCREAM0001.jpg

then Jumble Saler will automatically download and cache them so that they appear next to your stock system products.  You should also just use a picture name in the 'PictureLarge' column, such as 'SCREAM0001.jpg' and then specify a folder from which to collect them.
